I found an explanation that explains some things relating to intrusive thoughts

Okay, for the last five months, I have been struggling with intrusive thoughts about my sexuality. A very few times arousal happened and my immediate reaction was "EWW, NO, WTH!?!" Which freaked me out every time it happened and had me going "WHY BODY WHY?" Then I find this Reddit reply to a post by a person facing similar issues. Which put some things in focus, calmed me down a bit, and made me facepalm. I've done the "double-check yourself" thing way too much which has just propagated my anxiety. It is gonna be hard not to do that. Now all I have to do is instill some alternate associations to the topic into my mind.

What pornography does is make you lose your senses for the healthy real type of sexual connection and you start watching more and more content that is abnormal, you find out without a woman who's been done surgery on no legal medic would, you can't get turned on anymore. And you seek more and more extreme content.
Ppl also experience life in a different way, they become sexually unskilled when faced with reality. They expect to hear different answers to questions that require honesty and create a connection.

I do the no dwelling, it's a great tool, it really changes the way you think to the point you don't have to even worry.

The recovery path is hard but it's the right one and to be self aware and accept it is the first step. Wish you better health on your journey.

Truly lovely post, a wonder to see.

Appreciate this breakdown from the /r op.

Especially appreciated that she mentioned the common link between abuse and porn, it's important to bear that in mind. So many viewers--in particular men--find it too easy to overlook the human abuse or traffickiing aspect, though, because of a neurological activity switch in the brain that induces objectification when looking at women in a state of partial undress. It's actually really scary.

Princeton University had conducted a study of how male brains react to seeing people in different amounts of clothing, and brains scans had revealed when men were shown pictures of scantily-clad women, the region of the brain associated with tools, such as screwdrivers and hammers, lit up. Some men showed zero brain activity in the medial prefrontal cortex, which is the part of the brain that lights up when one ponders another’s thoughts, feelings, and intentions [...] researchers found this shocking because they almost never see this part of the brain shut down in this way, and a Princeton professor said “It’s as if they were reacting to these women as if they are not fully human; it’s consistent with the idea that they are responding to these photographs as if they were responding to objects, not people.”

Yep, as well as the morality of consent as consent shouldn't be bought. Or when people aren't really selling their work, they are selling their body, it can be very objectifying.

I am not convinced all intrusive thoughts are "organic".
Experience has taught me that some are external in nature.

What do you mean by: "double-check yourself"?

I didn't properly read your 1st reply is what happened. Sorry, could you explain what you meant in your first reply?
I was referring to what you would call a conspiracy theory.
I believe in manmade electronic harassment inducing intrusive thoughts in addition to "organic" intrusive thoughts.

Oh, heck yeah, social media is morally bankrupt, and trying to find good fan art without running slash crap is a hassle on sites like Tumblr. Seriously, exposure to "Tumblr art" is very detrimental to your psyche no matter your age.

True, porn has warped my perception of what is and isn't attractive, and hopefully distancing myself from that will reset some things in my brain.

This is an observable aspect of the male psyche/biology in particular, but it isn't solely related to the sexual context.
With drug addiction, as an example, the "buzz" wears off and greater dosages are required to gain the level of satisfaction that was previously felt.

This is an aspect/result of the blind evolutionary process.
And so is greed and power lust, as examples.

The reality is, humanity is far less than perfect.

Probably a hard truth, yes.

This doesn't mean women have to take it lying down, though. We live with enough impediments and threats trying to exist in a man's man's man's man's world as it is.

This doesn't mean women have to take it lying down,
I never suggested they should.
I am merely pointing out, clinically, objectively, truthfully, the reality as I see it.
Plz don't see what I have said as a personal position.
